Very soluble in water, freely soluble in glacial acetic acid, sparingly soluble in ethanol, practically insoluble in ether.L-Proline has been found as an effective catalyst for the one pot synthesis of polyhydroquinolinederivatives via four component Hantzsch reaction. This method provides several advantages such as beingenvironmentally benign, possessing high yields with increased variations of the substituents in the productand preparative simplicity.
